Making, Baking, and Sharing

Welcome to my house. Here are two decorations I made for the front porch.

This is a big floral arrangement I made in a large black plastic cauldron. We have a thing about sunflowers and ravens at our house.

And here is a closer view of the wreath I made for the front door. Come on in and I’ll share Halloween kitchen doings.

I try occasionally to tone down my tacky Halloween tendencies so I cross-stitched a simple pumpkin-theme hand towel. I would share the source but put the magazine with the pattern somewhere but where? Oh dear, I’m getting Junezheimers.

The October 2007 issue of Country Living magazine has the most beautiful cake on its cover that I just had to try. So this past Sunday was baking day at my house. I made the cake which I then gave to my neighbors as lately they’ve had a rough time with an injured child. They insisted we have a piece of the cake, too—oh, it’s so yummy!

That’s a goofy Halloween owl in the background. My husband insisted it had to be in the picture although I just wanted a picture of the cake. Ah well.

  2. I love your decorations. I don't really like to decorate for Halloween, but I love to decorate for fall in general. Lots of pumpkin, gourd & leaf-motif things around my place :-)

  8. Your decorations are so lovely June. I love the combination of the sunflowers with the ravens. It's a classic one, and you've made it look especially nice.
Your towel turned out really nice too.
What a thoughtful friend you are to take the time to bake that cake for your neighbors.
I think it's great that your husband is thinking what would look great in the photo....he's interested!
    Take care.

  13. That cake with chocolate dripping down it is a fantasy come true. I'll have to check to see if that issue is still in the stores.

Your decorations are great. This is sunflower season and they give such a nice seasonal 'welcome' to your house.

I get all carried away with Halloween too. Look at my site today and see the dos in their costumes. Also...been making Halloween pillowcases a few posts ago) to send to my daughters in their Halloween Boxes.

    Come visit,

  19. Junie, you never cease to amaze me. The last time I was here to view your blog, you'd just finished the 'Dancing Skeletons' pillows. Look at all you've done since then..what? a week ago? haha. Your crafts are so well made and I love your outdoor autumn decorations. Very nice. I just bought that Country Living magazine yesterday.. and some beautiful orange-y-gold Mums for a couple of containers on my front porch. But working full time, I don't get to do nearly as many things as I'd like to do. Thank you for cheering up my life. :)

  20. I love to cross stitch seasonal towels. I didn't realize that such wonderful towels were available. They used to only have the small, white ones. Your cake looks delish!
