Today is Chinese Lunar New Year 4,706. I made a few of the Chinese New Year projects featured at the HP Activity Center.
Good Fortune on our front door.
Our table is ready for tonight. Although mandarin oranges are more traditional, I have radishes. Why? I don’t know; I just like them.
Modifying HP’s t-shirt project, I made napkins to reflect our Chinese year of birth animal. My husband is a Rat (that makes me laugh so hard) and I am a Dragon. Since 2008 is actually the Year of the Rat, I guess the laugh is on me.
I printed HP’s designs on vellum to make votive candle wraps using a couple of glasses from my cupboard.
Dragonfly fortune cookie favors printed on paper hold a fortune slip inside.
Please see my previous The Recipe Box Swap post this morning for one of the recipes I’m using tonight. I wish you all a year of wondrous good fortune!
Happy Chinese New Year! Your table looks beautiful and I'm sure you will have a wonderful dinner tonight!

Happy Chinese New Year! Your table looks fantastic, and your recipes sound delicious! I'm born in the year of the pig (and proud of it), so maybe your husband can laugh at that! :)
ReplyDeleteI posted about the Chinese New Year today too! :-)
ReplyDeleteI was born in a year of the "snake." I'm married to an "Ox"
Your tabekl settings are so pretty! What did you serve for dinner?

Great stuff June! Lovely things! Love all the red!
ReplyDeleteJune, you are so festive; I love it! Every year I think about having a Chinese New Year celebration and I missed it again. Blast! But I'm an Ox, so maybe I'll do better when my year rolls around again in '09. Still, I find your table for two very inspiring. Happy New Year! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Chinese New Year - what a lovely table you've set! I wish we'd been able to celebrate, but we have all been down with flu. YUCK.
