A Colorful Weekend

I hope your Easter weekend was full of sunshine and laughter. We spent Saturday morning at Saguaro National Park East enjoying the wildflowers. Glorious, just glorious!



There are great masses of these happy yellow flowers all over the place.



Here’s a closer view of the flowers themselves.



I love the poppies and the little bug on the edge of the flower petal posed quite nicely for me.



Even the prickly pears are starting to dress up for Spring.



I made lemon poppyseed cakes for our neighbors as our little Easter tokens of friendship. I should have taken a picture of the whole parade of cakes but here’s one perched in our Tombstone Roses.



My friend Donna in North Carolina needs a knitting needle case so I made one for her using the same McCall’s pattern (M4728) with which I made my own case. You can see pictures of mine on Flicker here and here.



For some reason, three yards of this Japanese-themed flower fabric was in my stash. I suspect I was thinking about making another Amy Butler kimono and never did. Anyway, some of it has gone towards Donna’s case. I’m really working my way through my stash which tickles me no end.

Last night’s Emma was a welcomed return of Masterpiece’s Jane Austen series after a three-week break. What a great weekend; did you enjoy your weekend as well?

    Good morning June... I'm back. How are you feeling and how are your lungs??

    I love your tradition of baked goods for the neighbors. So sweet of you to spread cheer to all.

    The pencil case fabric is lovely. I can see it as a kimona (on my to-do list).

    Enjoyed the pictures of the beautiful flowers... we won't see those for awhile. 28 degrees here... some snow yesterday.

    I lovce the pencil case fabric! Beautiful photos of flowers. It’s snowing here, we have the coldest Easter in 40 years. We celebrate two days, so we are still enjoying. My husband came home from a two week trip to the US and Canada, so we are both adjusting to some more daily routine.

    I need to make my needles something like that. I always say I will but I don't. That fabric is extra inspiring though. I hope your weekend was as beautiful as your pictures

    The flowers are so pretty - and I love the cactus picture. The knitting needle case for your fiend turned out really great - I love that fabric. Ah... Emma...one of my favs. How did you like the Masterpiece Theatre version?

    Your close up photos of the flowers and cactus are wonderful June. My bhusband loves to eat the prickly pear that grows from that type of cactus -- they grow all over southern Itlay and he remembers eating them as a child.

    I baked for the holiday too! Very sweet treats. My body was in a "sugar rush" today so I went to the gym this morning after my walk to work off some more calories.

    You are so sweet to your neighbors. I should learn something from you! Love the needle case. I know sewing all those lines is time consuming! What a lovely day you had. We had about 10 inches of snow, but we had a lovely day with our little family anyway inside.

    Ahh, spring has come to your corner of the world. Such beautiful pictures -- even the prickly pear LOL. Love the needle case -- I need to make some of those as my needles are all over the place. I need some of your spring organization in my house. We had a wonderfully restful weekend until I checked e-mail last night and found my blog on vacation. Looks like that will last awhile longer too!
