I hope your Easter weekend was full of sunshine and laughter. We spent Saturday morning at Saguaro National Park East enjoying the wildflowers. Glorious, just glorious!
There are great masses of these happy yellow flowers all over the place.
Here’s a closer view of the flowers themselves.
I love the poppies and the little bug on the edge of the flower petal posed quite nicely for me.
Even the prickly pears are starting to dress up for Spring.
I made lemon poppyseed cakes for our neighbors as our little Easter tokens of friendship. I should have taken a picture of the whole parade of cakes but here’s one perched in our Tombstone Roses.
My friend Donna in North Carolina needs a knitting needle case so I made one for her using the same McCall’s pattern (M4728) with which I made my own case. You can see pictures of mine on Flicker here and here.
For some reason, three yards of this Japanese-themed flower fabric was in my stash. I suspect I was thinking about making another Amy Butler kimono and never did. Anyway, some of it has gone towards Donna’s case. I’m really working my way through my stash which tickles me no end.
Last night’s Emma was a welcomed return of Masterpiece’s Jane Austen series after a three-week break. What a great weekend; did you enjoy your weekend as well?
Beautiful flowers! Love the case!
ReplyDeleteHave the best of days! :-) Rosie
Good morning June... I'm back. How are you feeling and how are your lungs??
ReplyDeleteI love your tradition of baked goods for the neighbors. So sweet of you to spread cheer to all.
The pencil case fabric is lovely. I can see it as a kimona (on my to-do list).
Enjoyed the pictures of the beautiful flowers... we won't see those for awhile. 28 degrees here... some snow yesterday.
Hugs,
Joni
I lovce the pencil case fabric! Beautiful photos of flowers. It’s snowing here, we have the coldest Easter in 40 years. We celebrate two days, so we are still enjoying. My husband came home from a two week trip to the US and Canada, so we are both adjusting to some more daily routine.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! The case is so pretty. I love the fabric and what a great job! I can't believe I missed Emma. Hopefully they will re-run it this week! Happy Spring to you from snowy Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteI need to make my needles something like that. I always say I will but I don't. That fabric is extra inspiring though. I hope your weekend was as beautiful as your pictures
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are so pretty - and I love the cactus picture. The knitting needle case for your fiend turned out really great - I love that fabric. Ah... Emma...one of my favs. How did you like the Masterpiece Theatre version?
ReplyDeleteYour close up photos of the flowers and cactus are wonderful June. My bhusband loves to eat the prickly pear that grows from that type of cactus -- they grow all over southern Itlay and he remembers eating them as a child.
ReplyDeleteI baked for the holiday too! Very sweet treats. My body was in a "sugar rush" today so I went to the gym this morning after my walk to work off some more calories.
Hugs, Pat
What fabulous flowers
ReplyDeleteAlison
You certainly did have a colourful weekend. Love all your pictures and the needle case is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI still wish you were my neighbour. But would we get any work done?
Oh the splashes of beautiful sunshiney yellow flowers is just a balm to my winter-weary eyes! Thanks for sharing. I love the needle case, and wish I lived next door to you JunieMoon!
ReplyDeleteSmiles, Karen
So glad you are feeling better. I can tell by your post, your words, your color.
ReplyDeleteYay! Happy Spring to you, Ms. Moon.
You are so sweet to your neighbors. I should learn something from you! Love the needle case. I know sewing all those lines is time consuming! What a lovely day you had. We had about 10 inches of snow, but we had a lovely day with our little family anyway inside.
ReplyDeleteAhh, spring has come to your corner of the world. Such beautiful pictures -- even the prickly pear LOL. Love the needle case -- I need to make some of those as my needles are all over the place. I need some of your spring organization in my house. We had a wonderfully restful weekend until I checked e-mail last night and found my blog on vacation. Looks like that will last awhile longer too! Happy Easter Monday to you Sweet June!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Your desert is bloomin' lovely! One day I want to go to AZ when the desert is in bloom.
ReplyDeleteThe knitting needle case is adorable.

Just popping in for my Junie Moon fix!
ReplyDeleteHappy spring and happy belated Easter to you :)
June, I'm so pleased you're feeling better. I see you're as busy as ever. Sorry, since I've begun my writer in residence contract I'm sorely behind in my own blogging let alone visiting dear bloggers such as you. It's great to be back at your lovely online home!

oh dear, I meant to say what GORGEOUS photos

Thanks for letting us know about the McCall's pattern for the needle cases. That will save me a lot of trouble when I make one.
