Oops!

Sometimes you are just not supposed to get out of bed.

At 5 a.m. today, I was jerked awake by super bad leg cramps and tried to leap out of bed to stretch my muscles. I got a little more than you would expect with this maneuver. I became tangled in my sheets and fell—a leg going in one direction, a leg in the opposite direction, and my right foot stubbornly tried yet another point of view.

My mother-in-law managed to get me to the hospital and we’ve just returned home. My impromptu fall caused broken bones, damaged tissues, and the opportunity to forge a relationship with a new orthopedic surgeon.

Next time, I’ll just stay in bed.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear this. But take comfort in your pretty pedicure - it looks wonderful next to the bandages/cast. Very au courant with the season.

  5. Dang, June! What a way to fall..but we've all done that!!

As someone who had her own ooops! last January in Alaska on black ice and got to know another orthopedic surgeon...I feel for you! After, I broke and dislocated my wrist, family members had one broken bone after another! Keep an eye on your MIL and thank goodness she still drives and got you to the dr!

Blessings to that leg and heal well and heal soon!! (((JUNE)))

  11. Oh shoot, dagnabbit, and other family-friendly exclamations of distress (though I doubt what you're feeling is family friendly). I was yanked back to consciousness the other morning with a charleyhorse, sat straight up in bed, and (apparently mouthed) OW OW OW OW! Glad I stayed in bed...
