Rest Your Weary Head

Most people feel overwhelmed by the middle of December according to Better Homes and Gardens. Their suggestion is to take a nap—an idea that sounds blissful to me as our healthy Christmas countdown activity for today.

Even if you don’t actually go to sleep, the recommendation is to lie down in a dark quiet place for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

I have a lot of trouble sleeping for various and sundry reasons so a nap now and then is important for my health.

I’m ready for today’s nap. Freshly-laundered and ironed linens are now bedecking my bed and three sets of pillows are all set for idyllic comfort. I have a set of pillows with the white lace-edged pillowcases, another set with simple cotton red-and-white snowflake-themed cases I made and, for extra snuggly bliss, I’ve piled on yet another set of pillows with cases I embroidered months ago using a pattern from
Sublime Stitching: Hundreds of Hip Embroidery Patterns and How-To.

Isn’t this stuffed reindeer adorable? He is hugging his own little reindeer dolly and wearing reindeer bedroom slippers. He was a find over Thanksgiving—I just couldn’t resist him.

The bed coverlet is a re-purposed Christmas tablecloth bought from World Market years ago. I put it on top of our white goose-down comforter just because I think it looks pretty. Toss on a few holiday red/white snowflake decorative pillows and my bed is ready for my nap.

Later today I'll be off to dreamland for a bit.

Happy naps to you!

Morning, June.....I thought we shared the odd sleeping habit thing. So many times when I am up at 4, it looks like you are there too either posting or leaving comments. So napping does sound heavenly :-)

Hi Junie Moon,
I am a daily napper. I loooooove to nap... it's a thing passed down from my mom. Sometimes I read a bit and then nod off. I spend a lot of time getting our bed just right each day. I love it! We have a feather bed underneath us and a down comforter on top. Lots of pillows, too. It's like crawling in a marshmallow!! At my age I really believe in getting enough rest. I sleep hard at night too. One of the reasons I retired was that I was so tired wen I got home... like a zombie.

I think that's such fun that you got your Rolodex. Did you get the big one?? It's such fun to organize.

I love the pillow with the emboidery on the band. I love hearts.

Pepperment tea is soothing and calming. Try a cup in bed and snooze off.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ to you,
Hugs, Joni

Well, that sounds about right. The kids and the spouse all have snow days today, so I'm taking one, too. I haven't actually napped, but I'm still in my pj's at 2pm, and I've been enjoying some blog reading (something I haven't had time for in weeks). I'm decompressing in my own way, and it feels nice. I'm just about energized enough to take a shower and get back to that to-do list!

Love your pillows - they look so relaxing...

Visiting from Merryville. Your bed looks so inviting. I didn't even make mine today. Easier to crawl into tonight, I say! Nice meeting you!

Greetings Junie. Love your napping ideas. Yeah, sleeping in a quiet dark place can ensure the sound health, vigor mind and peaceful life. And surely for enjoying such kind of sleep, a perfect bedding set can contribute much. I like your pillows and simple cotton red-and-white snowflake-themed cases. Those look very beautiful and comfortable. BTW what's your idea about Round comforter?
