Bags of Fun

Preparing on Sunday for this new week, I realized that nightly transfers of the paraphernalia needed for my exercise classes into my gym bag creates a situation where something will inevitably be forgotten. So I made four simple draw-string bags to hold my stuff.

Each bag is 16” wide by 18” in height. I used a wonderful red/cream-striped cotton fabric that reminds me of French ticking. One-inch-wide woven cotton webbing serves for the drawstrings and a patch made from printable fabric represents each class.

In order from left to right in the picture: yoga, ballet, belly dancing, and Tai Chi.

Now I can prepare my exercise essentials for the week and grab the appropriate bag on my way out the door. This morning I’m going to make the yoga mat tote from Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing: Patterns and How-To for 24 Fresh and Easy Projects out of the leftover fabric.

Upcoming is a project that has been living in my heart and needs to be fully realized—I’ll tell you about that tomorrow as I hope you'll help.

How cute are those? My questions is....do you do all of those different workouts? If so, you must never get bored with working out....you are so inspiring!

I love these bags - especially that they look like ticking. I don't know what the webbing is, though.

Great job and has definitely given me an idea for myself and family who all just joined the gym!

LOL! I REALLY feel disorganized now!
Your bags are such a wonderful idea June, and oh my at how great they've turned out! I love the idea of fabric bags for all sorts of things. I wish I'd had this idea when my son was young. It would have helped to keep his many activities better organized.

Great idea! I wish I had time for all those classes! I just keep everything for the dance class I teach and the ballet class I take all in one bag. I made a cute drawstring bag for my daughter for her dance shoes. I was hoping we'd get some comments so I could promote my Etsy shop, but none yet. Glad to find your blog through Mrs. Kwitty!

Another fantastic idea JunieMoon! They are simple and lovely--and such a cute idea to put the patch on the corner to differentiate between them! You are my Yoda! :-)

The bags are great, but I'm more impressed that you do 4 exercise/dance classes a week.

This is such a great idea for keeping things organized. I badly need to make some for my boys' safety gear. I have elbow and knee pads strewn all over the house. blah!
