It’s been a great week and I’m reminded at every moment of how blessed I am to have friends. So, let’s share the excellence of friendship today.
Diane generously awarded me This Blog is Rated E for Excellent Award recently. I am very appreciative and touched by this honor.
Now I’m tasked to award it to 10 people whose blogs I think worthy. I’ve been doing some serious thinking about this. I could just say, “I give all of you this award.” But that would diminish the award’s value.
Finally, I realized I cannot do it. There is no way to name 10 specific blogs as exceptional without hurting someone’s feelings. The concept of excellence is subjective to the reader’s point of view. Every blog I regularly read is admirable to me.
So, the honest thing for me to do here is not accept the award. My heart tells me I’ve made the right decision.
I thank all of you for the excellence of your friendship—have a fantastic weekend!

that in itself shows how excellent you are! I don't like the awards or meme's they make me uncomfortable- I wanted certain people to add me to their blog roll at first- a year ago and when they didn't I had to re evaluate my feelings so they didn't continue to be hurt. I loved their blogs so much- why didn't they love mine? Now, I love it when I get comments and the love- its genuine and I know that they care because they took the time to say so. Sometimes I just Blog about what I am making and just want to share it- I never think about how it makes some people feel bad because they can't do what I do- because they don't have time.Well- I make time for it and for blogging and foe reading other blogs-its all a choice and if I read all the blogs I love daily then I would never get up out of the chair! The awards are nice, but it does hurt peoples feelings not to ever get tagged or noticed when they try their hardest. I realize I am rambling here- I am going home on Monday- all my plans for sewing and mending have been abandoned and now I just seek quiet and contentment that can only be found at my own home. Mom and I watched the movie last night and I loved it! She didn't understand a lot of it,but at least I have that memory, now. Thank you, sweet Junie
Well, you're E for Excellent in my book, June!
I think your blogs are worthy of the award. But...I feel as you do and have done the same thing... Not give the award to anyone. It becomes a popularity contest in people's eyes.
You did a fantastic job with the Weekender Bag. Not only in your workmanship, but in the perfect fabric for your Southwest friend.
Have a great weekend, Junie Moon.
We're off to see Vantage Point this afternoon and then... see what unfolds.
Hugs,
Joni
Well Junie Moon...you certainly deserve and 'E' for excellent..not only in blogland, but in life itself. I love your open heart and what your blog respresents. Have a wonderful weekend.
June, you and I have discussed this so you know I feel as the others so far have also stated. I too am quite uncomfortable with the tagging part of memes. It's the only thing about Blogging that I'm uncomfortable with. For me, you are definitely E for Excellent in your blogging, your creative pursuits, but moreso in the amazing human being that you are!
Bravo to you for such a classy move.
Respectfully,
Diane

That is so true, June, every blog is excellent in it's own way. Most bloggers share a little of themselves with the world, and hopefully their blogs help to make the world a slightly better place.
I think the "award" makers have the good intentions to help introduce new blogs to other readers through their awards, but, as you point out, sometimes it can be hard to choose a few when there are so many favorite blogs that we each regularly read and enjoy.
Thanks for being here for all of us to enjoy!
Have an excellent weekend!
This is indeed an excellent blog, because you put so much heart into it :) sayeth I, subjectively and with much feeling
I don't blame you June -- I can never bring myself to single out just a few people. It can be kind of a sticky situation. : )
Excellent! Boy, I've been thinking a lot about this, what with Lena's post too. I think we should start a no-award movement or maybe some sort of disclaimer in the sidebar??? Hmmm, what to do??? I have a terrible time with awards -- you don't want to hurt the person's feelings who awarded it to you, but you also don't want to choose more people. If we all just wouldn't do them, it wouldn't be a problem! Have a wonderful weekend!
I think you made an excellent decision. I think we should all reconsider giving each others awards. I’ve seen blogs and met bloggers that are wonderful and excellent to me, they never received any award however. I’m with Thimbleanna. I feels wonderful to receive an award, but you can’t avoid hurting people when choosing only a few to pass on the award. We should make this decision together and post about it.
I struggle with giving out awards too. Although I don't seem to have a problem with accepting them. Suppose I never thought about that.
Meme tags I mind less somehow. Especially the interesting ones.
But really, I just like to link to other bloggers when they say something that has touched me for some reason. Or when I first find a new and amazing one I have to share.
Oh...but we truly, truly, truly think your blog is a shining example of what a blog should be...but we understand it is challenging to pick 10 other blogs...just wanted to stop by and say thank you...thank you...thank you for your sweet birthday comments!
May your day be as wonderful as you helped to make mine!
smiles, kari (& kijsa)

I know exactly what you mean JunieMoon--I have a hard time with those too and tend to avoid them if I can! I read a lot of blogs and love so many of them--and really would hate to exclude any or try and pick my favorites. It's impossible really. Bless you.
Smiles, Karen
