It’s Leap Year today. According to folk legend, “In the English speaking world, it is a tradition that women may propose marriage only on leap years” (Wikipedia).
As a young girl, my school had two Sadie Hawkins dances during a leap year, one around Feb. 29 and again on Sadie Hawkins Day in November. Although we weren’t proposing marriage, this is when tradition held that we invited a boy to accompany us to the dance. It always terrified me; I was terribly shy.

Look at this great composition book cover the ever-so fabulous Calamity Kim made for me.
She put so much thought into each and every detail. Just the act of writing in this book is like a celebration of words and life. And when I run out of pages, I can merely insert a new blank book—love that!
Have a joyous weekend celebrating the beginning of March and the promise of Spring!

That is the cutest journal cover! I used to make book totes like that but I never put so much detail into them. Fabulous! So creative! I am gushing :-) Rosie

I like the idea of the re-usable cloth covers. I've done journals that were very nice, but when they are filled, it's over. This is good.

Oh! I just love that lady with the butterfly net trying to catch her a "good speciman." The journal is sweet too.

hey Junie Moon- Your handwriting really is lovely! I am glad that you like it- I was going to make a fabric postcard and it just got too big! I had to keep explaining it to my Mom- she thought it was pretty useless! She didn't understand why you would want to cover a composition book- I am so glad to be home!xxxooo calamity
what a wonderful gift! I just love it.
What a cute journal!
I remember the Sadie Hawkin's dances... such fun!!
The notebook cover looks so interesting. I'll have to go back and see if clicking on it enlarges it... to see the details. Fun, fun, fun!!
It's Monday and I'm surprised not to see a blog. You're so regular. Are you OK?? I hope this finds you well.
Hugs to you,
Joni
I love the journal cover...I tell you that Calamity Kim is soooo very clever!
What a great memory prompt June. I had forgotten about Sadie Hawkins. I can remember the Sadie Hawkins dances a couple times at school -- I was tortuously shy to even consider asking a fellow in those days! What a really lovely journal cover, with so much detail. What a lovely gift from the heart.
