Sweet Success

Thanks to Nicolette, Crystal, and everyone's encouragement, I achieved my “ah hah” Oprah moment with the Sew Pretty Homestyle bag (page 26) that flummoxed me last week.

The sunlight makes the bag and rose look blue—the correct purple color is more accurate in the last photo showing the rose.

My mistake was that I did not pull the lining fabric through the top opening of the bag as illustrated in Figure B of the book before drawing the corner arcs on both ends and sewing. Purely operator error on my part.

This is what the interior looks like.

I also managed to make the decorative rose and accompanying leaves (page 69) without problem. I’m so relieved.

yeah! I think I want to make one now! What a great bag for knitting- right? If only I knew how....I love the rose! Very lovely, Junie Moon! I hope you are feeling better- My post was really about if I am wasting my time blogging- I equate comments with readers I guess and don't feel like it's any good if nobody says "yeehaw" I have lots of mice in my corners! But, you are one of the big cats laying out on my favorite rug, staying warm by the fire. I love you Junie Moon!!! xxxooo kim

I love the word 'flummoxed'. Do those words just pop out of your head, Junie Moon??

I'm glad you got your purse problem solved. When you think of all the knowledge out there in Blogville, one can get help with almost anything.
Hugs,
Joni

So glad to see your pretty bag. It is very nice. (And would look lovely when tending to your butterfly gardens.) Egotistically, it is kind of nice to know that even a sewing champ like you has off days.
I know that is a selfish notion.
You also know how much I adore you.
:)

It's gorgeous! It's so annoying when a pattern foxes you in that way - I love the book though.

I'm so pleased you got it figured out and finished. It looks great. Love the colour of this fabric although it's supposed to be purple. Love the purple too.
I will be asking for help if I try this bag......

That is so beautiful! I'm so glad you figured it out, and stuck with it. I get so frustrated when I mess up something "easy". It's very motivational for us not so great sewers.
