Today I want to thank Garmin for their unknowing help during an emergency.
My daughter Lindsay and I both received a Garmin nüvi 760 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Automobile Navigator for Christmas from our husbands (they got them at Amazon.com). Lindsay takes after me in that we are both directionally-challenged.
One night a couple of days after Christmas, Lindsay and her husband were road-testing her new GPS unit on a dangerous mountain road near Denver.

Their car hit a patch of black ice and slammed into a concrete embankment which, thankfully, kept them from going over the side of the mountain. Trapped in the car, they were able to use the Garmin device to access emergency services. Emergency services were able to get a fix on their location because of the GPS unit.
Getting a call that your child has been in an automobile accident is one that no parent ever wants to receive. The fact that Lindsay and Philip are alive and well today is a blessing too huge to describe. My heart is full of gratitude for this gift of their lives as well as the Christmas gift that brought them the help they needed.
Thank you, Garmin!

June, what an unfortunate thing to happen but how incredibly fortunate to have the GPS. Gosh, how amazing it is to have something like that -- I bought one for my husband for his birthday last year. Now I'm thinking it might be a good thing for me to have one!
Oh thank goodness they are ok!!!
Oh my goodness, June! What a harrowing event! I know how dangerous those Colorado mountain roads can be.
I never knew Garmin had that feature -- I will definitely tell my kids about that in case of an emergency.
Glad all turned out well for Lindsay and her husband!
Have a good weekend!
Junie! Oh my word! I'm extra thankful for my GPS, nav and bluetooth services now.
So grateful your daughter and her husband were OK:)
Wow, that's scary! Thank goodness everything came out okay! Sometimes modern technology really does come in handy!
Damn these treacherous mountain highways around Denver... Blame the Colorado Dept of Transportation for not keeping the highways safe
ughhh. Scary! My husband bought one of these for me a couple months ago. I didn't even know it could do that! Thanks for sharing. Thank goodness they are ok!
Thank goodness they are ok, that must have been scary for all of you. What a wonderful GPS, I'm going to have to check out ours and see what it does.
Wow, go Garmin! I'm so glad to hear that they were ok! It must have been so scary to get that call...yikes.
My goodness, I'm so glad your daughter and son-in-law were okay. I have GPS on my cell phone, but I'm guessing I wouldn't get signal in some areas. This makes me want to invest in a GPS device!
