Rosseau Bandeau Bikini Knitting

Playing in the stacks at the library recently, I found a copy of Twelve Months of Knitting: 36 Projects to Knit Your Way Through the Year and checked it out to give the Rosseau Bandeau Bikini a try. I started the project last Friday and finished yesterday afternoon.

Source: Amazon.com

As recommended in the book, I used Butterfly Super 10 100% mercerized cotton yarn (made in Greece) ordered online via Paradise Fibers. The Rosseau Bandeau requires one skein each of three colors (photo of yarn shown in yesterday’s post):

  • Main Color: Coral (#3411)
  • Color A: Cameo (#3452)
  • Color B: Cornsilk (#3525)

Take care when you dive into the pool...LOL!

It reminds me of my first swimsuit... My mother knitted me a light-blue swimsuit, it itched so badly and when I came out of the sea, the swimsuit had become so heavy from the water that it was hanging on my feet. I must have been 4 or 5 years old, but I will never forget the embarrassment!

It's a beautiful bikini June! Perfect for the hot weather there in Tuscon.

I don't think it would cover one quarter of my body, however. I need one of those billowy, skirted "mature woman" type suits ...with a good cover up...lol

Lovely suit! You may just want to stick to sunbathing. I have a very similar story to Nicolette -my grandmother crocheted me a swimming suit. I remember bawling because the bottoms fell off and the top went down to my knees after swimming in Lake Michigan!

It's beautiful. Man, you're quick with the knitting!

Hahaha, Nicolette's comment cracked me up! And I agree Junie -- be careful both ways -- diving and cannonballs!!!

Wow! This is beautiful...and sexy, too! I love the colors. Whether you wear it in the water or not, it will be fun and sexy to sun bathe in.

I love it! And I am so impressed!!!

YOU DIDN'T!!

Junie, that's actually really really cute!

I will admit that when you first suggested this, I was a little wary, but the bandeau top is adorable.

I have to say though, I'd still be worried about the weave loosening up in the water. You'll have to tell us how it goes.

Yes what happens when it gets wet? LOL! Might be a slight problem...right? But way cute June!

Junie - did you add an extra repeat of the stripes? I'm trying to follow a pdf of the pattern that I bought on Ravelry, but there are only 2 rows to each stripe, and I see yours has 4 rows. With only 2 rows to the stripes on the front, it's a lot smaller than the back. None of the pattern matches up...!!
