Personalized Thank You Cards and Creativity

Thank You Cards

The holidays have come and gone. I’m so glad I took the time this year to just relax and enjoy the time with my husband. There wasn’t any frantic hurrying to do this or that, no worrying about my blog or whether the world would end because I didn’t stress myself doing just one more holiday activity. I need to do more of this sort of non-doing next year—it’s truly lovely.

One thing I am being careful to do is writing thank-you notes for my Christmas gifts. I thought I’d photograph a few of the cards I’m making.

As I opened my gifts Christmas morning, I took a picture of each one and jotted the details on a nearby notepad. Then I used the photos to create simple cards using Microsoft Word. Each person gets a picture of the gift with which I was blessed and a hand-written note from me inside.

I think I’ll make this personalization my regular thank-you note style for gifts received in the future, no matter the occasion.

Creative Every Day 2010

A year-long project I’m undertaking for 2010 is the Creative Every Day 2010 challenge. My thank-you cards count for today. Since I don’t generally blog on weekends, I’ll not post what I’m doing those days, but I will indeed do something creative—it’s what feeds my spirit.

Curious Minds Want to Know

  • Have you written your thank-you notes?
  • Are you undertaking any 2010 projects you’d like to share?

I have not yet written my thank you cards, but I have made them and will write them today.
Your idea of photographing the item for the card is brilliant.
Creativity everyday sounds like a great idea!

Happy New Year June! It looks like you received a lot of pretty jewelry for Christmas :-) I think your personalized photograph "thank you" card idea is wonderful! I wrote my thank yous" on purchased cards, but making ones would be a good way to begin getting creative for 2010.
I usually don't make resolutions but I do wish to encourage myself to be more creative this year and use up some of the "when I get around to it" supplies up that I have collected through the years ...lol I will check out the challenge link. Thanks!

Oh June, I'm so far behind with your blog.... So many wonderful posts before and after Christmas. Love these thank you notes.
Love the idea of being creative everyday too but I don't think that can happen in my house yet.

Happy New Year June!! I love your idea for the thank you cards, may have to borrow it.
I don't think I could do the "creativity everyday" challenge, but I am going to attempt to do some kind of sewing project monthly, with heavy emphasis on quilting. I'm determined to finish a full size quilt sometime this year!

I LOVE your cards! I don't know anything about word but I am going to check it out. So do you just use Card stock for the paper?

June, I love your personalized thank you cards. I too have always done thank you cards & in recent years I make them personalized with my photos BUT I had not thought of this outstanding idea of yours!

We don't exchange gifts at Christmas and I'm trying to think if I ever receive any gifts ... from time to time my neighbour and friend sometimes gives me something for my birthday ... I love your unique idea so much I may try this instead of just using a photo of flowers or landscape as I've been doing. You are so incredibly creative June!!

You know, I've always wanted to send thank you notes with photos of the gift in action, but have never had the time/patience/wherewithal to do so. I'm so glad you did - that's a very nice way to thank someone for a great gift.
