Olympics Knitting

We’re big Olympics fans at our house and try not to miss any of the televised events. There is no way I can sit still to watch TV without having something to do. So I chose projects I consider restful that could be done mostly while sitting in my favorite chair.

Using the Mason-Dixon Knitting: The Curious Knitter's Guide: Stories, Patterns, Advice, Opinions, Questions, Answers, Jokes, and Pictures book, I knit a hand towel in a moss stitch grid and then a washcloth in a chevron pattern. The yarn is Louet Euroflax as I love knitting with linen; it’s so soft later. I can’t find my little tag to tell you the color, but I seem to recall it’s #48 aqua.

The hand towel is blocked and now I just need to block the washcloth to make the chevron pattern pop a bit better.

Because the Euroflax is so expensive (~$24.95/skein), I tried the same project in Peaches & Cream cotton yarn. The color is #69 silver gray, but my eyeballs translate it to blue.

The Olympics were awesome and the knitting relaxing—so all is well in my world.

Wow -- that yarn is pretty expensive Ms. Moon! Your towel and dishrag are sure pretty too!

It’s great to be able to watch the Olympic games when there’s not such a big time difference. So I’m focussed on London 2012. That’s only 1 hour time difference.

I never used linnen yarn, it looks very beautiful! Love the colour!

I used to love to have a project in my hands while we watched TV/DVDs. Without Boyd I seem to have my laptop on my lap and play online games while I watch a movie. I should start doing some more productive activities. I seem to be happiest going out for lunch with friends and then shopping. I suppose time will help.

Your knitting is lovely as usual!!

Unfortunately, we couldn't watch the Olympics because my satellite dish company tells us we can't get NBC in the area of the country we live in.

I'm still pretty ticked about that whole scenario.

But I must say, your work is gorgeous. Not a seam out of place!

And I really like both colors, but I do agree with you...the silver color translates to blue for me as well.
