Miss Marple Is On the Case

Every now and then I’m in an Agatha Christie mood. I pull out a book or two and enjoy a few hours reading one of her stories.

To add to that experience, PBS’ Masterpiece Mystery is featuring Miss Marple as part of their 2010 summer TV programming. The first movie was last night—The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side.

It’s so relaxing to do a little knitting while watching an Agatha Christie movie as knitting appears here and there when Miss Marple is involved. In last night’s show, I noticed her WIP involved a ball of red yarn. Mine, however, is blue.

Here’s the schedule for the Miss Marple series featuring Julia McKenzie in the role of Agatha Christie’s spinster sleuth.
  • May 23: “The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side”
  • Jun. 6: “A Pocket Full of Rye”
  • Jun 13: “Murder is Easy”
  • Jun 20: “The Secret of Chimneys”
  • Jun 27: “The Blue Geranium”
You can download a PDF version of Masterpiece Mystery’s summer schedule here.

I am not only an Agatha Christie fan but especially Miss Marple. I have all of her movies! She's played by several different actresses. Have you seen the Margaret Rutherford versions?

Thanks for the schedule!! I'll be sure to watch them!!

What fun, June! I read all the Agatha Christie book when I was young. I'm in Colorado this week babysititng my grandson, so my computer and TV time is limited, but hopefully I'll catch a few shows when I get back.

I got sucked into the "Lost" finale last night, so I missed this one, but it's first up in the "On Demand" list :-)

Miss Marple is one of my favourite literary characters. I'm going to check and see if these are on in our area! Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the .pdf and the knitting update! We're still getting caught up on the fabulous new Foyle's War episodes around here, but should be able to begin the Miss Marple ones next week! I'll be sure to prepare myself by pulling out a pair of socks to work on--in red.

What a wonderful idea. I love Agatha Christie's Miss Marple books. I'll have to crochet though. I still haven't caught on to the knitting.
