Our friend Scott is a troop leader for Picture Rocks Boy Scout Troop 218. None of the parents sew and the boys need troop scarves. This is where Paula and I found an opportunity to be helpful.

Picture Rocks is a community so named because of ancient petroglyphs found in what is now part of Saguaro National Park.

Scott found a bolt of fabric depicting petroglyphs which was perfect for making the boys’ scarves. Paula and I established an assembly line process and got busy making the scarves.

A troop patch was sewn on each finished scarf.

Here is one of the finished scarves, ironed and folded nicely. My husband is delivering the scarves to Scott today.
Paula and I hope our small efforts contribute to the boys’ pride in their troop and the general festivities surrounding the blessing of 100th year of service by the Boy Scouts of America organization.

They are going to be thrilled with their new scarfs!
I love the scouts! I was a girl scout from Brownie to Cadet. I was a cub scout den leader for a few years when my son was a cub, and when he advanced to a regular boy scout my husband was a leader. It is a wonderful organization!
These are wonderful. I'm so impressed.
I was a Brownie, Girl Guide, Ranger and then went onto being a Girl Guide leader afterwards. Unfortunately, when my mum became ill, I gave it all up to look after her.
We used to call these scarves, neckers (as in neckerchief). Scott's Scout Group really have scarves to be proud of.
What cool scarves and what a very nice thing to do for the Boy Scouts.

You're such a sweetheart June. Those scarves are just perfect -- I'll bet the boy scouts will love them!
Those are so nice! Love the colorful troop patch! Thanks to you and Paula for making them; I'm sure the boys really appreciate your gifts of time & talent.
My brothers & I were in Scouting as children, & my daughters & son also. Both my husband & I served as leaders in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cubs, & Boy Scouts for a number of years. Our son made it to Eagle - yay! Wonderful organizations- just wish all children could enjoy those experiences. Happy 100th to BSA!
p.s. Looks like you had a lovely vacation!
