Five Stones Game

Christmas gifts are created year-round at my house. Here’s one I completed over the weekend for one of the children on our gift list.

It’s an ancient game called Five Stones and is very easy to make using this
tutorial. The stones are actually little bags filled with rice and the game is played similar to Jacks except no ball is involved.

I made a little drawstring bag to hold the stones and playing instructions. Everything fits nicely in a red suede box found in my craft closet.

I’ve said before, but you don’t stop to amaze me with all your creative posts and subjects.
That’s some awesome fabric you used!

I wish I could get some Christmas gifts made...time is just flying by. I have great intentions and a few knitted ones started. Now that my little grandkids are with me ...well, we will see what gets completed.

What a great idea! My children are grown and have no little ones yet, but this would be fun even for adults. We like to play games together.

Were you ever a part of the Victoria, missing bliss yahoo group? If so, I remember you posting about some "shoe sweets" and I asked for the pattern. You sent a link - and I made them by looking at the photo.

Your creativity is marvelous

Hi June!

I never heard of that game but the bags look so pretty and I'm sure it will be fun to play!

I just have so many things going on this summer with family that I'm dizzy, but I do love to prepare for Christmas early if I can. We'll be spending it away for the first time in Denver, CO, meeting our first grandson! I've been trying to pick up little things as gifts, as flying will prevent us from bringing a lot along. We may end up mailing our gift box anyway :-)

Hugs, Pat

Neat idea!

The closest I have gotten to making Christmas gifts is thinking about it! I need to get on it starting in September.
