The Big 400

Today is my 400th post. In writing about this milestone on their own blogs, many people say something along the lines of “who knew I had so much to say”. That’s so not me. I have plenty to say and could probably post many times a day if left to my own devices. If I write a lot, then you can imagine I talk a lot, too. Be glad you don’t live with me.

To celebrate, I’m offering a give-away—a collection of Anna Griffin stamps and kits.

The Rules

  • Leave a comment on this post sharing where you’re going (or maybe you’ve already been) for vacation this year—even if you’re just having a staycation. I’m very curious as to what everyone is doing this summer.

  • Leave your comment by midnight (MST) on Tuesday.

  • I’ll post the winning name on Wednesday morning. If your name is drawn, please contact me by midnight (PST) on Wednesday with your full name and snail mail address so I can mail out your package on Thursday. My email address is in the sidebar on the right.
Hugs!

We are having a "staycation" this year, as we had a big trip last year driving across Canada and then back to Ontario through the States. 10,000 km in 3 weeks! We may visit our daughter and son in law in Edmonton Alberta in the fall.

Your giveaway is lovely June and very generous!
Blessings,
Niki

What a great giveaway! I am loving the brass stencil kit!
I am in the "staycation" category. While I would love to be able to take some time away from home to visit family and friends in other states, it is just not happening this year. So instead I will simply enjoy my vacation days off from work by making them into a few long weekends. Just the right amount of time to spend some extra family time together while still staying close to home.
Congrats on 400! Here's to the next 400 as well! :)

Good Morning and Happy Summer! We'll be spending more time at our Mt. House this summer. We aren't going anywhere new but we will be hosting some folks on their vacations when they visit us there. I'm looking forward to that.

Congratulations of 400 posts. I don't sew but I always enjoy seeing your clever creations.

During the summer we will stay at home. We are going to take te kids for fun days out. And in august we will go to the Efteling (that is a amusement park in the south of the Netherlands) for 2 days and stay in the hotel at the park. I am looking forward to that. Are you going to tell us were you are going for the summer?
I wish you a fun and quilt-full summer.

Congrats on 400! I'm doing 'playcations' this summer...flea marketing in Nashville, long weekend in Chicago, brief, fun stuff. My last "real" vacation was visiting my brother in Mesa...and I loved the dry heat.

Happy 400 June! You're SO funny. Can you imagine if all us bloggers lived together -- there'd never be a second of quiet.

I'm will be visiting some national parks this year, looking for crumbs from my friend Junie Moon!

I am so coveting this prize! If I win, I will be having a homecation where I stay home and stamp fabric and then donate the artquilts I made to AAQI ! My vacations, I'm so sad to admit, all consist of frequent trips to Alaska to care for my aging parents. But while I am there, I do get to walk on my beloved Sandy Beach, see my family, and help out in my SIL's 2nd grade classroom. OH, I work too hard, and don't vacate enough. But I do so love helping others,so I talk too much AND work too much ;) And you dear woman, give more than you ever can count.Happy 400th in all ways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junie,
You are wonderful. What a great give-away. You amaze me with all the things you do. We'll be doing PA for the July 4th holiday weekend and our big trip this year is our Carribean cruise in October.

Living at the beach has great advantages. We live in a resort area, and have quite a busy and large family. We spend most of our year keeping appointments, running errands, going here going there, busy with school, so we rarely have time to enjoy our lovely area. I am trying to make this summer a true vacation, planning staycations all over our lovely area.

Happy 400! We already took our vacation - went up to Chicago to see family. Nothing special but since we live in Florida, it's always a big deal to be up there! :) Thanks for the giveaway!!

I spent the last three months in Lake City, Colorado. That would have been my vacation.

Happy 400 and thanks for hosting this great giveaway!

Well, I'm grateful you like to gab, because I love reading your posts! Here's to 400 more!

As for vacation plans, we're hoping to get to Disney World later in the year, so we're keeping it local during the summer. Next week, it's *really* local family fun nights (sno-cones, backyard campouts, etc.); in August, we'll be branching out to daytrips around Houston and the Hill Country.

We won't be having a vacation this summer, but we are planning a lot of trips to Lake Michigan with our daughter. I guess you could say that our "vacation" was this weekend... lol We didn't have power so we abandoned our house for my parent's house(they have a generator) and we bunked in their guest room for 2 and a half nights! It felt like a vacation when we came home to a dirty house, and I woke up this morning to packed bags and a pile of dirty laundry to do!

Otherwise we do a lot of day-trips in the summer. Art fairs, Shipshe, etc...

Early September is still summer, technically; at that time my fiance (soon to be husband) and I will go to Florence for a week. I was there once for two days, and saw enough to know that I needed to see more. Italian food, too... mmmmm.

Kristie said...

We're headed up to Wisconsin for vacation this summer, to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday. It'll be the first time we've gone up north in 3 years, so we'll be out at both the family cabins, and my dad wants to give me a tour around the East End of Superior to show me old family spots of interest. I'm looking forward to that.

400? Wow! Being Geminis and all (not to mention being fabulously fascinating--ha!), if we ever meet in person we'll have PLENTY to talk about.

No vacation is planned, but living where we do it's hard to want to leave. I've been doing a lot of hiking locally, so I get 1 1/2 hour stay-cations on a regular basis, enjoying meadowlarks, deer and wildflowers.

WOw, that is AWESOMW! Congratulations on 400!

This summer I'm headed to a few weddings in Portland, LA and Sac. They're taking up a ton of vacation time but I'm so excited to see everyone. We're also squeezing in a few camping trips in central CA this August. I can't wait!

What a lovely giveaway and congrats on you 400th post. For vacation I will be taking time off to work at the quilt shop in Charm, Ohio and to work on my house - I have two bathrooms in various stages of demo and I need to get them done! I know this would be very few people's way of spending vacation, but any time away from my job is a vacation!

What a great idea and giveaway!
I've only recently found your blog so I guess my timing is perfect. :)
I'm going to Hong Kong this summer (next month, actually) to meet my fiance's grandmother. It'll be my first time in HK so I'm exceptionally excited. Then after the wedding in September we'll be going to Europe for the honeymoon (which is where my family is from; it's like a summer cultural swap!).

Jeannie said...

Congratulations! Shouldn't we be sending you gifts for you anniversary? We travel to the Oregon Coast every fall to stay in a 1920's cabin, walk until our legs hurt, and carry home more seashells than we need! The summer plans are to sew fabric, dye fabric, and play! Hope your summer is fantastic! Cheers.

Oh, June, you know we all wish we lived close enough to be able to chat with you regularly. When you don't post, I get all worried! ;0)

This year, we might actually go on two real vacations, just for a few days each but still, they count! My sister may be getting married (second marriage for both), so we'll be traveling up to the San Francisco Bay Area and then to Monterey for a few days. Later in the summer, we'll go spend a few nights at a luxury hotel in Las Vegas, hang out at the pool and go see the Lion King with my girls. That is, if all goes according to plan... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

No matter what happens, I know the summer will be full of great adventures and lots of fun. Hope yours is, too!

Lol~ I'm the same way June- plenty to say everyday, just no time to post it :-)
We had a "stay-cation" this year out of necessity- Sam was graduating & we had family here all week; we did a bit of day-trip wandering to Yosemite & Muir Woods, then played in the garden, watched movies, & looked at photo albums.
Hoping to get away after summer (when Hubby can get time off) & spend time in the mountains.

Congratulations on your 400th post! I discovered your blog recently through a link to recycling/sewing projects, I think. Now I subscribe.

I'm taking a community college class this summer, so can't fit in a regular vacation. I am planning some Saturday daytrips to area attractions.

June those are beautiful. No need to add me to the contest -- I simply want to respond to your question of where we're going for vacation this year.

Since we can't go on vacation anymore -- at least not together -- we each have to take separate vacations. I just finished making all the reservations for the trip my husband is taking at the end of this month: he and Don are headed to Cody, Wyoming and to Yellowstone.

I will likely be taking 4-5 days to drive down south to Vancouver Island. We're thinking of it as a possibility for a place to retire so I'm going to scout out some of the different communities and pricing of residences as part of the research.

Congratulations on 400 posts - what a fantastic achievement in just two years! (All I've managed in a year and a half is a measley 48)

Our holiday this year will be our first one as a proper family and as it will involve a 11 month old baby we are not travelling too far... just to a nearby Center Parcs which is a bit like a holiday village with a really impressive pool. We're all looking forward to it immensely and I'm hopefully that I'll be getting my first proper break in almost a year as well as some precious craft time.

Thanks for hosting this lovely giveaway - and thanks for all those fantastic posts for the last two years :)

congrats on 400 posts! I'm kind of on a mini vacation all summer, for the past 8 years I've worked at summer camp and been very busy during the summer months. This year, I'm working just part time as an office administrator. It's very strange to see my family and my hubby regularly, but I'm enjoying it. We are going on a real vacation near the end of the summer. My family has a time share in Northern MN and we all go on vacay together.

Congratulations! You write an inspiring blog. For vacation this year, I took last week off and worked in my garden and I will take a week off in Oct. to attend my nephew's wedding in Colorado. Have a fun summer!

400 posts already? June, I remember when you first started your blog. I have been an avid reader since then even though I rarely comment. Last summer we met our son in Italy when he reached the one year mark in his Peace Corps service (Moldova), so this summer it's all about his return home. We will only have 2 precious weeks with him before we move him again to start law school, so it's definitely a staycation for us, but one we are all looking forward to. Congratulations again on your 400th post and keep up the inspiring work.

I am just returning from my first vacation - 2 weeks in Texas, including a visit to Martha Pullen's Market in Arlington. I'm home in Arizona for 4 days, then back to Texas with my son for 2 weeks going to amusement parks and floating on the Guadalupe River, aaaaahhhhh ....

400 posts, that's so great!! (I do feel like I've run out of things to say, or maybe that I keep saying the same things over and over.) As for vacation, ahhh, I wish we were going this week instead of the end of August. We'll be visiting a campground in Wisconsin for a few days with my family (in a cabin) and then just the 5 of us will be spending a few days in Door County, Wis, one of our favorite places.

Hola Junie!
Congratulations on your "blog birthpost". Well...my desired holidys...I do live in Spain, I usually go once a year abroad, to a country I have never been before, but I am pregnant, so I prefer to stay calm. We'll go to a marvellous part of Catalonia named "Ampurdan", so magic and calm, close to Cadaqués (do you know the painter Dalí?, where he used to have his atelier).
Blue, white, roman ruins, good food, crochet, and my little first baby growing...
Thanks for your blog.

Hello there!

I have been following your blog for some time now and try to check in once a day. I'm not sure how you find the time to do all you do AND blog about it.

Vacation: My husband and I would like to go to Clearwater , Florida for vacation or we may go visit his family in Idaho (we live in Nashville). It all depends on the funds, I suppose. Either way I want to find some water to sit next to and relax! We have a 2 year old wild child--so we'll see if THAT happens.

Please feel free to visit MY blog--more of a "here's what our family is up to" blog.

Thank you for opportunity and thank you for blogging so frequently. All of us readers appreciate the vacation you give us more than you know :)

Hello there!

Thank you for giving your readers such a cool opportunity. I am a long time reader-first time commenter..hehe.

My family lives in Nashville and we will likely head to Clearwater, Florida or Boise, Idaho. How is that for contrast?

I have a 2 year old wild-child that rarely lets us vacate anywhere so even a long weekend in Gatlinburg would be nice. I am a sucker for cheesey air-brushed t-shirts afterall.

Thanks again for blogging. It's something I look forward to on a daily basis.

I live in an apartment complex completely surrounded by concrete and have since displaced by Hurricane Katrina nearly 4 years ago. Don't misunderstand. I'm grateful for a roof, but pre-K, I lived near the edge of a salt marsh, and I dearly miss morning coffee with the red-wing blackbirds, shorebirds, herons and egrets that used to turn up in my back yard. I think I might just take a room back in the town where I lived pre-K and carry my coffee to the seawall for a few early-morning visits with wildlife. That sort of non-rigid respite is my kind of vacation anyway. And I love, love, love your blog, Junie Moon. Since I cannot make my Google account work for some reason, this is expat39520.

Happy 400th!! Congratulations on your milestone post. I have been so enjoying reading your blogs & going back to the earlier ones. You have already taught me many things!

We are taking the horses and going fly-fishing with my Dad in the mountains. He wants to visit some of the streams he fished as a younger man (he will be 70 this year). I can't wait!
