Blessings Friday
Another busy week has flown by and now the glorious weekend can embrace us. I’m still working on my closets/cabinets cleaning and organizing but I’ve made lots of progress. Also on my agenda is the button scarf for the Finn and Donk’s Sewing Adventure project.
Gentlemen of the Past
Today is (was) the dapper and debonair Cary Grant’s birthday. Mr. Grant would have been 104 today and probably just as much a gentleman as in his prime. Besides his good looks, I admire his inherent charming nature and good humor.
This is also A.A. Milne’s birthday, creator of the “Winnie the Pooh” stories. I have fond memories of reading his stories aloud to my children when they were small.
I appreciate the contributions both men gave to the world.
Generosity
The lovely bandage photo is Jan's (and used with her permission). Her fingers have been flying on their crochet mission. What a blessing that so many have joined in our bandage brigade. It comes to an end next week and then I’ll quickly box them for shipping to the group flying out to deliver them.
Return to Grace
With the republication of Victoria magazine and the wonderful Jane Austen series being publicized on PBS, I feel a calm flow into a gentler rhythm. Both are wonderful reminders to cherish our time and find bliss within as well as without.
May your blessings be many this weekend (and don’t forget about Northanger Abby on Sunday night)!

Thank you again for the Jane schedule. I watched the first one twice. I enjoyed it so much more the second time knowing who all of the characters were.
I just found your blog about a week ago and I love it! Plus I had to throw in a thanks for the heads up on the Jane Austen stuff on PBS. It's so relaxing to just sit and watch.
Thanks to your blog, I also started watching the Jane Austen series last Sunday. Also, your bandages were mailed this morning. I hope you get a great response from all of your readers.
Oh my gosh! Look at all of those bandages. That is incredible! Way to go Jan. WOO HOO!
And way to go June. I sent mine off Wednesday. I finished one and thought that was pretty good. Man, oh man.
:)
And any ideas where I can find a contemporary Cary Grant?
Glad that you have so many that signed up to join in the Bandage Brigade. Mying went out this week and please do put a finally tally up once you get them all in.
Darn... I forgot about Northhanger Abbey and we have the Packer game beginning at 5:30. I wasn't going to watch last week as I'd read the book and have the movie on VHS. But then I thought of all the women all over watching it together, so Mr Yummers made me a fire, I snuggled on the couch with an afghan my mom knit and enjoyed every minute. For Christmas he gave me the DVDs of Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. We're trying to slowly replace our favorite VHS movies with widescreen DVDs. Also because of the wonderful commentary that comes with so many.
Off to nap before dinner.
Hugs,
Joni
Great post today!!
I love Cary Grant!! His movies were so good.
Enjoy your weekend!

Though this has nothing to do with anything, the photos of the gentlemen of the past remind me of a gentleman of the present. My dad. When I see photos of him in the 50's and 60's I see a "movie star" and a modern day gentleman. Not many of those around lately. He is also my hero who has served our country in a difficult position in the US Airforce, beat the odds as a selfmade man who struggled to get through college financially but not intellectually, vowed to make life easier for his children and was my support, my rock, my role model for what a husband should be. Anyway wanted to bless you with the blessing that you gave me. He is the most gentlemanly man I know. Of course my husband is a gentleman. My dad just has some of that old fashioned charm.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Junie,
I am also a subscriber to Victoria Mag and am 'watching with you' as the PBS channel broadcasts all the Jane Austen movies. I love it! Thanks for pointing us to them.
